Tour Pro Depot

Overview:

Tour Pro Depot was inspired by an experience I had while shopping for new golf equipment. I was on a discount golf site which I had frequently visited. It's an older site with a bit of a difficult user journey, but I'd always tough it out because of their prices. I then began to think "What if they classed up their brand and made an app to make shopping easier?" With that, the Tour Pro Depot app was born!

  • Brand Development

Responsibilities

  • Develop branding material & guidelines

  • User Research & Consultation

  • Site Design & Development

Duration

4 Weeks - July '25

Problem:

Tour Pro Depot started as an online store, and has been growing! They now want to build a mobile app to help their business continue to expand as well as giving themselves more of a clubhouse feel instead of just being viewed as a discount shopping destination, and provide users with a better shopping experience.

Solution:

We will be building an app that will give Tour Pro Depot a more elegant feel, while still highlighting its low prices customers love. We also want to ensure that users have a smooth and enjoyable process while shopping for for new equipment.

How It Came to Life!

Colors - We decided to create a color palette for TPD that would represent the best parts of golf. The red to represent the flags on each hole, the green to represent well kept fairways, light blue & pink to represent the coveted sunrise & sunset skies, very light tan to represent the sand in the bunkers, and the black to represent the pencils used to maintain score cards.

Wireframe / Lo-Fi Model

After taking the time to better understand the company & their users through initial research (learn more about my design process & research methods in my About Me page), we learned that we needed to prioritize customization, convenience, and product information. Users are looking to quickly and confidently purchase to help their game, and in order to do that we need to make sure there are accurate product descriptions & product reviews paired with a seamless purchasing process to promote conversion.

Typography - Due to the rebrand, we wanted to provide Tour Pro Depot with fonts that would be clean, clear, and sophisticated to help pair with the clubhouse feel that we are going for in their new app.

Mockups & Hi-Fi Model

Thanks to extensive interviews and studies conducted, we were able to identify issues with verbiage, lack of product image sizes, text legibility. We were able to add up to 4 product images as opposed to one, make adjustments to make the text more legible, and adjust the verbiage to be more neutral to appeal to newer golfers to complete our Mockups and finalize our Hi-Fi Model.

Thanks to all of our hard work and collaboration, we were able to create an app for Tour Pro Depot that allowed users to quickly and confidently make a purchase to help their game due to the product details and peer reviews. Users were also able to easily join TPD's Pro Club to benefit from their loyalty program. Tour Pro Depot now has a more accessible way for users to be able to order on the go from just about anywhere, and they now have another avenue to promote and grow their Pro Club to help boost customer retention as well!

Takeaways:

We were able to provide TPD with a fresh brand rebrand as well as helping them optimize product pages per the users needs. We were very happy to see how much users enjoyed viewing, reviewing, and purchasing products in the app.  The biggest takeaway from this experience was the importance of making sure product information is as accessible as possible, and the importance of making sure clients had a variety of product images, so they feel more comfortable with making larger purchases.

Next Steps

Grow the product list, so we can grow the customer base. Being able to add clubs for kids, women, and seniors will help TPD become accessible to more customers and help them become a one stop golf shop for the entire family.

Order Tracking and Order history will help users use the app as an All In One location for everything involved with their orders. The more convenience is created for users, the easier it is to retain them as a loyal customer.

Building out a more robust VIP system, so users can earn points & developing a page to reflect this will help users become more invested in spending with TDP, so they can continue to earn more rewards.
